Will Buckley wants to lose his supersub tag by forcing his way into Albion’s starting line-up.

Buckley came off the bench to slot an injury-time winner against Nottingham Forest at The Amex.

It was a repeat of the impact he made in the opening day victory at home to Doncaster, when he scored two late goals as a substitute including the winner in stoppage time.

A recurring hamstring injury has restricted Buckley to only one Championship start since a £1 million move from Watford in the summer but he believes that could be about to change.

He told The Argus: “Hopefully this will be the start of getting back playing and in that starting eleven now. Watching from the stands is really frustrating. You want to be out there. Hopefully that’s behind me now. I just want to get on that pitch.

“Everyone wants to see new players, especially the fans. When they hear about a new signing they want to see them out on the pitch.

“Will Hoskins has been frustrated by injury as well and Vicente.

“You just want to get on the pitch and show the fans and the club what you can do.

“The hamstring is fine now. I’m still doing work on it to prevent getting injured. Hopefully it stays away now.”

Hoskins, Buckley’s injury-plagued former Watford team-mate, faces another six weeks on the sidelines with a torn knee ligament.

Ryan Harley was also ruled out of the Forest game by a tight hamstring and now has a race against time to be fit for Saturday’s trip to fourth-placed Middlesbrough.

Albion are back up to sixth in the Championship following their third victory in eight days and third in succession at The Amex.
