Albion's kids have a big incentive to catch the eye of the manager at The Amex tonight.

Gus Poyet will be watching Martin Hinshelwood’s prospects in the FA Youth Cup third round clash against Aston Villa (7.30pm). It was in the same competition against Everton at Withdean that Poyet first spotted the potential of Lewis Dunk, now a first team regular.

Poyet said: "I'm trying slowly to get involved and know the players better and help Martin and slowly get them doing what we want to do by playing similar to us.

“It's going to take time. I think it is easier to start with the 12, 13, 14-year-olds but we are going to do it slowly. I think it's going to be good.”

Poyet played a part in the decision to play the game at Albion's new stadium. He said: “If I was 18 or 17 and they gave me the chance to play at The Amex I would be delighted so I'm not going to go against that.

“I think about how the players would like to play and I hope they enjoy it but, most of all, I hope they win.

“We need to be realistic. They (Villa) are a Premiership side so they should have probably international players. We have one (Jake Forster-Caskey).”

Supporters cannot pay on the gate tonight. Tickets for the west stand have to be bought in advance online, by telephone or in person at the ticket offices at The Amex or in Queens Road, Brighton
