Albion are through to the fourth round of the FA Cup – but Wrexham gave them an almighty scare in North Wales tonight.

The Seagulls were fortunate to cling on for a 1-1 draw after extra-time in their replay at a vibrant Racecourse Ground.

They then converted all five of their spot kicks in a shoot out after Peter Brezovan had saved the hosts' first shot, from substitute Dean Keates.

Brezovan had another superb night but the outcome was rough justice on the Blue Square Bet leaders.

Wrexham deservedly went ahead on 23 minutes when their outstanding player/manager Andy Morrell curled a beauty into Brezovan's far top corner.

The striker had already been denied at close range as Wrexham made all the early running.

Despite moments of promise from Will Buckley on the right, Albion never really threatened as they played with a stiff breeze at their backs in the first half.

They eventually managed their first effort on target on 77 minutes and it brought them parity they did not deserve.

Substitute Ashley Barnes did the damage with a header in off the post from Matt Sparrow's cross.

Wrexham almost won it deep in added time when Joe Clarke headed over at a corner.

Both keepers saved their sides in extra-time, Brezovan from Mark Creighton and Joslain Mayebi from the clean-through Torbjorn Agdestein.

Barnes, Matt Sparrow, Liam Bridcutt, Inigo Calderon and Craig Mackail-Smth were perfect in the shoot out.
