Liam Bridcutt is ready to commit his long-term future to Albion.

The Seagulls will offer their player of the season a contract extension to reward his efforts.

And Bridcutt has no intention of going anywhere else.

The influential holding midfielder has a year remaining on his current deal.

His stay will be stretched as boss Gus Poyet wants to build the midfield around him.

Bridcutt, 22 next week, missed only three Championship matches for Albion this season.

The former Chelsea trainee’s consistent performances won him the fans’ vote as Albion’s best player ahead of skipper Gordon Greer.

Bridcutt, linked with Swansea earlier in the season, recently became a father for the first time and is settled in Brighton.

His agent, former Albion No. 1 Mark Cartwright, told The Argus: “Liam’s extremely happy and I expect him to be staying at Brighton.”

Bridcutt joined Albion at the start of last season, initially on a short-term contract, after Alan Navarro suffered a serious knee injury.

They often partnered each other in front of the back four this season but the out-of-contract Navarro has revealed via his twitter account that he is not being offered a new deal.

Meanwhile, Albion are looking both at home and abroad for a new goalkeeper.

Targets include Gornik Zabrze’s Polish under-20 international Lukasz Skorupski, who is also on the radar of Spurs and Newcastle and is wanted by German club Borussia Moenchengladbach.

Skorupski, 21 tomorrow, would prefer a move to England but Poyet may regard him as too much of a gamble.

The Albion players are now on holiday after their final training session yesterday.
