Former Albion favourite Danny Wilson has warned Will Hoskins he will have to prove his fitness before he entertains the idea of re-signing him.

Hoskins spent the second part of last season on loan to Wilson’s Sheffield United after an injury-plagued start to his Albion career.

The striker ruled himself out of United’s failed quest for promotion from League One via the play-offs with a hernia, which has subsequently been repaired by surgery.

Wilson said: “We’ve kept tabs on Will but his situation has not changed.

“He’s doing nothing at the moment and it is vital that he starts playing some games.

“That won’t be until next season obviously so we’re not looking in that direction at this exact moment.”

Hoskins, 26, told The Argus last month he is open-minded about his future and has refused to rule out reviving his fortunes with Albion.

Boss Gus Poyet was disappointed he agreed to the loan move to Sheffield, rather than staying to fight for his place.
