Gus Poyet reckons Albion’s sell-out crowds are helping him attract new players.

The Seagulls boss expects to add to his squad before the end of the week as he plans for life in front of club record crowds in the Championship.

Poyet was yesterday ready to do business but admitted practicalities involved with carrying out a medical might postpone his next signing by a day or two.

He plans to get a new face in before the end of the first week of pre-season training as excitement builds towards the new campaign.

Albion have less than 500 season tickets left and are almost certain to sell out.

Poyet said: “We are close to our next signing. We are just trying to make sure we do the right things.

“I’m pleased. We are in an absolutely fantastic position.

“We need a left-back, we need a midfielder and we need a striker.

“If we do things right it will all come together very quickly.

“We need to do something in the next two days because I want to sign another player and put him into our training this week.”

Poyet insists the buzz around Albion, who will have 22,000 season ticket holders and crowds of about 27,000, is impressing potential targets.

He has already snapped up free agents Tomasz Kuszczak and Bruno, who were previously with Manchester United and Valencia.

Poyet added: “It's great for us to know that we will be playing in front of sell-out crowds for each game at The Amex and it has helped me in attracting the likes of Tomasz Kuszczak, Bruno and hopefully the others we want to bring into the club."

Albion are training without Vicente, who remains at home in Spain while a contract dispute is ironed out.

Vicente is not being paid during his absence according to his agent Victor Oñate.

The stand-off between club and player showed no signs of easing with Poyet insisting he was in no rush to sort things out.

Spanish second-tier outfit Elche want to sign Vicente in time for pre-season training, which starts on Monday.

Meanwhile, Albion’s home game against Leeds has been brought forward a day to Friday, November 2 (7.45) and will be shown live on Sky Sports.
