Rising star Jake Forster-Caskey has been told it is up to him where he goes on loan.

Oxford United were last night confident they would secure the England under-18 international on what is likely to be an initial six-month deal.

Burton also want to hire him although Albion boss Gus Poyet says interest in his attacking midfielder is not limited to those two clubs.

Forster-Caskey recently signed a three-year contract with the Seagulls and is seen as a big part of the club’s future.

But he needs to be playing league football on a regular basis.

Poyet said: “There’s a loan option there for him.

“That’s what he wanted to do when we negotiated his contract.

“We will see. It’s up to him. He will make the decision in the next few days.”

Former Albion defender Chris Wilder is now in charge at Oxford and has moulded one of the more attractive passing sides in League Two.

They play 4-3-3 but need to reinforce in midfield after losing two players this summer.

Wilder watched Forster-Caskey last season and was impressed by what he saw.

Meanwhile Albion’s players can expect two tough training sessions today and some weekend work.

Poyet said: “They will have a long morning’s training on Saturday followed by Sunday off.

“The players are desperate to get to Sunday!”
