Gus Poyet has challenged his team to prove themselves against the champions of Europe.
But the Albion boss admits he will not mind being beaten by a piece of Chelsea brilliance tomorrow.
Poyet will name his strongest possible XI to face Roberto di Matteo’s men in a prestige friendly – and challenge them to keep their places.
That is likely to mean first Albion outings at The Amex for summer signings Tomasz Kuszczak, Bruno and former Chelsea defender Wayne Bridge.
Poyet said: “It will be tough. The idea is to see if we can be organised, if we can be brave enough to play our game, if we do the basics.
“Then, if Chelsea have got a player who on the day is at his best, it will be difficult to stop him. Or if the goalkeeper is at his best it will be difficult to score because they are top class football players.
“We need to be a good team and try to play our game.
“I’m not looking at the result. I’m just expecting a normal football game with us trying to play our game.
“I don’t think we will have a team as good as Chelsea in the Championship, no chance! It’s a very good test.
“But I’m going to see things which are important for the season.”
Poyet has lost Will Hoskins for six weeks due to a broken foot bone.
But he expects to have Craig Mackail-Smith – one of several strikers interesting Leeds – available after injury.
