Gus Poyet insists he has learnt about his Albion side in tonight’s cup exit at Swindon.
Now he has set his sights on the Championship season, starting with the trip to Hull on Saturday.
Albion crashed to a 3-0 defeat in the Capital One Cup after controlling the game in the first half.
Poyet said: “Swindon had a plan but they didn’t have a shot on target in the first half.
“You know sooner or later they are going to have one chance.
“I was talking to (goalkeeper) Tomasz (Kuszczak) that maybe he would have to make one save because maybe they would have one shot on target.
“We made too many bad decisions.
“Today I asked the players to make decisions, to assume their responsibilities. A few did it, a few didn’t.
“I was just watching the game and trying to see things we need to learn for the future. “It doesn’t matter who you beat in pre-season, it’s about when everybody is playing for something.
“The only good news about the result is there no more games (in this competition).
“There is no more distraction, no more big games, no more two games in two days, the silly things we did last year.
“For me it is finished, over. Our season really starts on Saturday.”
