Albion are interested in out-of-favour QPR striker Jay Bothroyd as they attempt to end their long search for a target man.
Rangers chief Mark Hughes has made it clear Bothroyd, signed by previous manager Neil Warnock, has no future at Loftus Road.
Former Arsenal prospect Bothroyd, 30, had a spell in Italy with Perugia before re-igniting his career with Cardiff and earning an England cap.
The 6ft 3ins powerhouse scored 41 goals in 120 Championship outings for the Welshmen.
