Albion want to catch out Championship rivals with an extra weapon – Bruno’s surprise long throw.
But Gus Poyet will not be turning his Spanish defender into another Rory Delap.
The Seagulls noted right-back Bruno has a long throw during their pre-season programme.
The summer signing from Valencia hurled the ball into the opposition penalty area a couple of times during Albion’s last outing at Burnley.
Delap is synonymous with a low trajectory throw which caused havoc to defences and used to provide lots of goals for Stoke but Albion will only exploit the tactic sparingly.
Boss Gus Poyet said: “We don’t have the players to go crazy with it, so we are not going to use it constantly.
“If we had a player like (Peter) Crouch then maybe we would use it more. It is an option but without changing our style completely.
“We saw it in a few pre-season games, even with throw-ins from the middle of the park. It’s a great option to have.”
