Crawley manager Steve Evans has dismissed fears surrounding a winding up order served on the club and insists any unpaid debts will soon be settled.

Reds are due in the High Court on May 14 after being issued with a winding up notice from Revenue and Customs.

The Blue Square premier division club have a history of money problems and came close to liquidation two years ago.

Evans said "I do not think it will go to the High Court, the cheque is raised and ready to go.

"It is a stagnated process and people have to announce things but it is not going to be happening.

"I was told about it last Thursday and was informed the funds were being moved across to pay it so I have not given it a second thought.

"There are always stories at football clubs but when you live in the world of football you realise that it happens not just to us but to the best of them. I've got no issues of concern myself."

Crawley beat Cambrige United 2-1 at Broadfield Stadium on Tuesday in the Blue Square premier division with goals from Kevin James and the outstanding Dannie Bulman.

Evans said: "Apart from their goal, Cambridge did not have a shot and to restrict a side like them is superb.

"We were a joy to watch at times and our commitment and tempo was outstanding.

"We just need to do it on a more consistent basis but we have young players and they are learning."
