Crawley boss praises character

First published in Crawley Town by

Boss Richie Barker was pleased with Crawley's character as they came from behind twice to draw 2-2 against Walsall.

Goals from Billy Clarke and Jonathan Forte earned Reds a point after they had trailed to efforts from Febian Brandy and Ashley Hemmings.

But Barker admitted he was disappointed with his side's performance as their winless run in League One stretched to four games and saw them drop to sixth in the table.

Barker said: "I would saw the character we showed was the most pleasing part of the game. To come from a goal behind and finish the game with ten men and still get a point was the most pleasing part.

"I felt we were at our best the 15 minutes immediately after both of their goals. It was almost like we started to play when we have gone a goal down.

"We need to stop that pretty quickly as when we play against better sides we could find ourselves two or three down. We need to come out of the traps a bit quicker."

Barker has also been left with a defensive headache for Tuesday's clash with Yeovil.

Joe Walsh will start a three-game ban after he was sent off with seven minutes to go for bringing down Brandy while Claude Davis picked up his fifth booking of the season to trigger a one-match suspension.

Kyle McFadzean was ruled out against Walsall by flu while Shaun Cooper is still out with injury leaving Mark Connolly and Charlie Wassmer as the only available centre backs.

Barker added: "Kyle is in bed with flu so I don't know if he will be ready for Tuesday. It will be a test for us."

Wasnt at the game on Saturday but sounds as though th Broadfield faithful were treated to another exciting afternoon. It seems as though we are going through a period of draws (3 in 4 leagues games) which though not a disaster it is hampering our route to the top of the table.
We can put that right with a home win against Yeovil Town on Tuesday before we go to Crewe on Saturday.
Come on you Reds !
