Crawley completed a double-swoop on the first day of the loan window by bringing in midfielders Keith Keane and Josh Wright.

Keane joined on a 93-day loan from League One rivals Preston North End shortly after a similar deal had brought Wright to the Checkatrade.com Stadium from Millwall.

Former Republic of Ireland under-21 international Keane was a regular for Preston last season but has not featured at all in the current campaign.

The 27-year-old is well known to Reds fans having played against them many times during his nine-year spell at previous club Luton.

Boss John Gregory said: “We’re delighted to have Keith on board, I think he is just what we need at the moment.

“He’s a winner, plain and simple, and he’s a leader too. He always wants the ball, he has a great engine and fantastic ability and we’re thrilled he’s agreed to come down for the next three months.

“He was captain quite a few times for Preston last season which says a lot about him as a leader."

The arrival of Wright will also strengthen a midfield which was horribly exposed in the 4-0 defeat to Rochdale on Saturday.

The 24-year-old former Charlton trainee has only featured twice as a substitute in the Championship for the Lions this season and is surplus to requirements at the Den.

Gregory added: “Josh is a good fit for us as a hardworking, creative midfielder who has played most of his football at this level or above.

“He’s committed to us for three months and we think he has a lot to offer. He’s a very good footballer who looks after the ball well.”

Both players will be available to play in the JP Trophy and FA Cup for Crawley.
