Skipper Josh Simpson has failed to prove his fitness ahead of Crawley’s clash with his former club Peterborough United today.

Boss John Gregory was hopeful the midfielder would have recovered from a hamstring strain picked up on his return from a previous ankle injury against Yeovil Town two weeks ago.

But Simpson is not even included in the squad as Reds attempt to maintain their 100% league record against Posh.

Gregory does make four changes to the side which won 1-0 at Luton Town in the JP Trophy in midweek.

Lanre Oyebanjo is recalled in place of Bobson Bawling at right-back after being left out as a precaution against the Hatters.

Jamie Ashdown takes over in goal from Brian Jensen while Jimmy Smith comes in for Gwion Edwards who is on duty with Wales.

The other change sees top scorer Izale McLeod come in for Matt Harrold up front with Lewis Young and Gavin Tomlin keeping their places having impressed at Luton.

Gregory is only able to name five substitutes with Edwards and Joe Walsh on international duty, Simpson and Dickson injured and Josh Wright and Mitch Rose having had their loan spells cut short this week.

Peterborough make one change to the side which drew 2-2 at home to Oldham last weekend with Jon Taylor replacing Luke James up front.

Crawley (4-4-1-1): Ashdown, Oyebanjo, Leacock, Bradley, Sadler; Smith, Keane, Elliott, Young; Tomlin; McLeod. Subs: Jensen, Henderson, Banya, Harrold, Bawling.

Peterborough (3-4-1-2): Alnwick, Baldwin, Burgess, Bostwick; Smith, Anderson, Payne, Newell; Maddison, Washington, Taylor. Subs: McCann, Santos, Grant, James, Oztumer, McEvoy, Ferdinand.
