Ryan Dickson admits the players owe Crawley’s fans an apology following their limp exit from the FA Cup at Yeovil.
Dickson made his return after seven-weeks out with a knee injury at Huish Park but any satisfaction at his return was wiped out by the manner of their 1-0 defeat.
Reds had beaten Yeovil 2-0 in the league at the Checkatrade.com Stadium back in September but never looked like being in the hat for the second round once they fell behind in the seventh minute.
Dickson said: “The FA Cup is completely different to the league as it is all about earning the right to play.
“You know it is going to be high tempo and is going to be a scrap. You know Gary Johnson’s team will be high on work-rate and I don’t think we matched them.
“I felt we started the game well but the goal gave them a little bit of a lift and after that their tempo and passion was higher than ours.
“Their work-rate was a lot higher than ours and I can’t really put my finger on why. It is a bit disheartening because it just seemed like there was an extra player on their team.”
