Boss John Gregory has vowed to turn Crawley’s fortunes around after seeing his side dumped out of the JP Trophy by ten-man Gillingham last night.

A section of the crowd at the Checkatrade.com Stadium called for Gregory to be sacked as Gills fought back to secure a spot in the area semi-final after Joe Martin had been sent off.

Gregory said supporters had every right to vent their frustrations following a run of just one win in the last seven games which has seen them slip to 15th in League One and bow out of two cup competitions but remains determined to carry on.

Gregory said: “The fans pay their money to get in so they can say what they like but I am not going anywhere.

“There are better managers than me who have been in worse positions than this and they have got their heads down and got on with it so that is what I will do.

“All you can do is work hard and try to improve results. We go to Oldham on Saturday and then have two home games so there is a possible nine points there which can change our season.

“Alan Pardew (Newcastle manager) is a mate of mine and he came under increasing pressure recently with people questioning his ability as a football manager.

“He has proved the doubters wrong in the last four or five games and that is what I have to try to do.”
