Boss Dean Saunders felt Crawley’s extra desire was the main factor in their 2-0 victory over Oldham Athletic today.

First half goals from Izale McLeod and Richard Wood lifted Reds out of the League One drop-zone against a Latics side sitting safely in mid-table.

Oldham rarely threatened a comeback after the break with Brian Jensen securing a second successive clean sheet after the goalless draw at Crewe on Friday.

Saunders said: “It was a great performance from all the lads. We showed a lot of desire and sometimes that is what it comes down to at this stage of the season.

“I think we should have won by more as we squandered some good chances. Our goalkeeper did not have much to do and we could have scored another three goals.

“That is four wins, a draw and a defeat in our last six games so the players are doing great. But we probably still need a couple more wins to keep us up.”
