Dean Saunders has warned his players that time is running out to avoid relegation.

The Reds are one place outside the relegation zone ahead of tonight’s trip to Walsall.

Crewe, Notts County and Colchester – the three teams immediately below Crawley – could move above the Reds if they win and Saunders’ side lose tonight.

Interim boss Saunders was bitterly disappointed with the performance in Saturday’s 2-1 defeat away to fellow strugglers Scunthorpe when they missed a great opportunity to take a step closer to safety.

He said: “We need to turn up on Tuesday. Our goal difference is not great and there are some big games coming up.

“You can talk as much as you like, we have just got to go out and do it. If you are at Man Utd with six games to go, there are games you have got to win. It is the same at the other end of the table.

“All the talking stops now. We are running out of games. There are still games left but Saturday was one of those crunch games that we could have put a gap between us and a few teams so we have got to put it right against Walsall.”

Anthony Wordsworth returns from a two-match suspension tonight but Dean Leacock, Darren Ward, Josh Simpson and Conor Henderson are still ruled out by injury.

Ryan Dickson is a doubt after going off at Scunthorpe with a recurrence of groin trouble.

Saunders may opt to bring back Mathias Pogba in place of Dean Morgan this evening.

Crawley (possible): Jensen; Oyebanjo, Youga, Bradley, Dickson; Young, Fowler, Wordsworth, Tomlin; Pogba; McLeod. Subs (from): Elliott, Edwards, Smith, Morgan, Harrold, Cofie, Bawling, Price.
