Boss Mark Yates admitted Crawley Town went down with a "whimper" in the second half against AFC Wimbledon.

Reds deservedly led 1-0 at half-time thanks to a header from Gwion Edwards but goals from Ade Akinfenwa and Andy Barcham after the break turned the game on its head.

Yates said: "I thought we were excellent in the first half but they dominated us in the second half.

"We talked at half-time about making sure we were on guard and our second half performance was even better than the first but we failed to deliver that.

"We have to look at ourselves and say things need to improve quickly as I felt we went out with a bit of a whimper to be honest in the second half."

Yates refused to comment on the continued absence of striker Izale McLeod from the Crawley Town squad.

The Reds boss had hinted on Thursday that McLeod could feature against Wimbledon having previously refused to play as he looks to engineer a move away from the Checkatrade.com Stadium.

McLeod was not even on the bench despite Crawley having only six substitutes with Yates saying he wanted to wait until next week to make any comment on the situation.
