Crawley Town have signed midfielder Ross Jenkins on a short-term deal.

Jenkins was without a club after leaving Watford in June 2014 and has been given a contract until January.

The 24-year-old - who has been training with Gillingham this season - will go straight into the squad for Saturday's home game against Yeovil Town.

Jenkins made 95 appearances for Watford but had not featured for the Hornets for the last three years. He had brief loan spells at Barnet and Plymouth in the 2012/13 season and spent last season in America trying to break into the MLS.

Manager Mark Yates said: "Ross has got a good pedigree in the game and you can see that in the time he has been with us over the last couple of weeks.

"I think he’s an excellent player who can operate anywhere in midfield. Obviously he wants to be playing in the League again and we’re pleased to have him with us. He give us another option in that area of the team."
