Boss Mark Yates insists Crawley Town deserved their 1-0 victory over York City today.
Reds secured the three points courtesy of a disputed late penalty which was converted by Simon Walton.
York’s caretaker boss Richard Creswell described it as a “soft” decision from referee Charles Breakspear after Sonny Bradley went down in the area under a challenge from Eddie Nolan.
Yates said: “I felt it was reward for our perseverance. After the first ten minutes I felt we were always on the front foot and looked the most likely side to win the game.
“It was an important win. We’ve had a good month and shown a lot of signs of improvement.
“Even though we didn’t play at our best today we were still able to grind things out which is encouraging.”
