Sussex suffered an agonising defeat as they went down by 11 runs to Worcestershire at Hove.

Half centuries from Chris Jordan and David Wiese had put Sussex on the brink of claiming a remarkable victory as they chased down 272 to win.

But Miguel Cummins removed Jordan, Jofra Archer, Danny Briggs and Steve Magoffin to finish with figures of 5-82 as Sussex were bowled out for 260.

Sussex had started the day on 13-1 and their task became even harder when Craig Cachopa was bowled by Joe Leach for a duck.

Ollie Robinson made 42 to give Sussex a glimmer of hope but when he was run out on the stroke of lunch the home side were 113-6 and Worcestershire hot favourites.

A partnership of 114 between Jordan and Wiese swung the game back towards Sussex but Cummins returned to deny them.

Jordan was caught behind for 50 before Archer edged to second slip for 15 to leave the nerves jangling.

Wiese continued to play with authority but was unable to farm the strike and Briggs chipped a catch to the leaping Brett D'Oliviera at midwicket and then Magoffin was bowled first ball to leave the South African unbeaten on 70.
