Vernon Philander is back in action for Sussex – along with Chris Jordan and Luke Wells.
The trio both started the Championship contest versus Durham, which got under way at Hove this morning.
Philander opened the bowling with an initial four-over burst from the Sea End after recovering from a groin injury. He missed Sussex's second Championship match with Nottinghamshire and the Royal London One-Day Cup campaign while back in South Africa recovering from the injury sustained in the season-opener versus Kent.
Jordan is back at Hove after a frustrating stint with Sunrisers Hyderabad in the Indian Premier League while Wells, fit again after a knee injury, has replaced Laurie Evans (hamstring).
Steve Magoffin (knee), Ben Brown (broken finger), Matt Machan (wrist) and Ollie Robinson (shins) all remain sidelined with injury.
Sussex will have the services of Philander for three more Championship games after this as he bids to bounce back from his false start.
It was fellow new-ball man Jofra Archer who made the early impression today, clean bowling Keaton Jennings during a lively first spell from the Cromwell Road End after Sussex won the toss.
