Chris Adams is in the pink after changing his bat and scoring his first hundred of the season.

The Sussex skipper made an unbeaten 109 against Middlesex at Hove yesterday to guide Sussex to a seven-wicket win in the FP Trophy.

Adams has been using a pink-handled bat in one-day cricket this season to support a breast-cancer charity.

But he switched back to a blue-handled blade to score the 21st one-day hundred of his career on the eve of his 38th birthday.

Adams said: "I haven't felt at my best this season with the bat and they haven't felt quite right. I made a conscious decision to use the same bat I played with against Surrey last week which I felt good with.

"I didn't have time to put a different handle on it but it felt comfortable and it seems to have done the trick.

"I have been fretting a bit so far this season about my batting. If things feel right I'm happy and play accordingly and yesterday it was a case of going back to basics - stand still, watch the ball and hit it."

Adams guided Sussex to their first win of the season and he added: "That will be a big boost to everyone in the dressing room. We have played some solid cricket so far but that's got us up and running and given us something to build on."

Meanwhile, new signing Corey Collymore says he cannot wait to link up with the champions.

The West Indies' fast bowler arrives today after agreeing a one-year contract. He could make his debut in Thursday's Friends Provident Trophy game against Surrey, providing his Kolpak registration is ratified by the ECB tomorrow.

Collymore, 30, said: "The call came from Sussex the other day and it was a very welcome one. I've been itching to play county cricket and to be picked by the champions has filled me with confidence. I'm ready to give it my all and can't wait to get started."
