Sussex eased their Championship relegation fears with an eight-wicket win over Worcestershire at Hove today.

They completed their first victory at headquarters in the Championship since the final game of 2007 just before tea thanks mainly to an unbeaten 100 from opener Chris Nash.

Nash got to the fourth hundred of his career, and second of the season, with his 19th boundary while Ed Joyce made 53 and Murray Goodwin an unbeaten 40, his second-highest score of the season.

Sussex had been set a target of 212 after bowling out Worcestershire for 235.

They looked like cruising to victory when Worcestershire were reduced to 101-7 but their last three wickets put on 125 in 17 overs with Steven Davies last out for 66.

Sussex take 19pts after completing a Championship double over a Worcestershire side consigned to an immediate return to the second division.
