Three World Cup winners and possibly the trophy itself will be on show at Hove when Sussex launch their defence of the Twenty20 Cup on Tuesday, June 1.

Sussex pair Luke Wright and Mike Yardy as well as Somerset’s Craig Kieswetter, who all helped England win the World Cup in Barbados on Sunday, will play.

And Sussex should have Dwayne Smith, man of the match in last year’s final, in their side after he was granted a visa and is expected to arrive next week.

Sussex are also in negotiations with the ECB to have the trophy lifted by Paul Collingwood on display at the County Ground while chief executive Dave Brooks says that ticket sales have picked up this week in the wake of England’s success.

Brooks said: “The phones have definitely been busier this week.

“England’s success will have something to do with that but we have also stepped up our own marketing.

“We are at the same mark as we were last year in terms of ticket sales but remember the competition started a week earlier in 2009.

“We are 99% sure that the World Cup will be on display and there should be an opportunity for supporters to have their picture taken with it.

“With three World Cup winners playing it should be a great start to our defence of the trophy.”
