Simon Colbran will step down as Peacehaven manager at the end of the season.

The Magpies and Colbran have agreed on a change following a second successive relegation, this time from Ryman south back to the ranks of county league football.

Colbran joined the Magpies in October following the departure of Darren Freeman to Lewes.

He was asked to work with a limited playing budget, which was further reduced as the season wore on.

With ten players following Freeman to Lewes, his task was made even harder.

The Magpies are now looking to bring in a more local manager working with players from the area.

Colbran said: “Everyone at the club has worked hard this season just to ensure the club survived. Maybe we didn’t achieve on the pitch but possibly the achievement was just getting through the season.

“I think the club going down the community route is a great idea. This is now the time to steady the ship and regroup. It is also important to get a local manager in place who can bring in and work with local players.”

Colbran will remain in charge for the last two games of the season starting at Three Bridges tonight.
