Liam Enver-Marum admits Eastbourne Borough will always hold a special place in his heart after taking a step closer to a dream move to Bournemouth.

The striker is in talks about signing for the League One newboys after a solitary season at Priory Lane.

Enver-Marum was released by Borough after scoring 16 goals following his arrival from Woking last summer but would have turned down a new deal anyway with Bournemouth showing an interest.

He revealed: “Bournemouth contacted me at the end of the season and asked when my contract was up and then invited me down to train with them for a couple of weeks to see whether I fitted in.

“It went really well down there and I was quite confident I would get something when I was let go by Borough. If I hadn’t had something else lined up I would have been disappointed as I would have liked to stay.

“I loved my time at Eastbourne and there is no doubt that dropping down into part-time football helped me focus better on what I want to do. It made me realise how much I want to be a professional footballer and also gave me time to analyse my game and work out how I could improve."
