Lewes manager Garry Wilson has issued a statement to fans, asking for their continued support after a difficult start to the season.

The Rooks have not won any of their last four games, are fourth from bottom in Ryman premier and were dumped out of the FA Cup at Witham last Saturday.

Wilson said: “Without doubt, so far this season things have not gone as Danny (Bloor) and I had hoped or planned.

“To see the team at the wrong end of the Ryman premier table causes us much concern. To have limped out of the FA Cup hurt everyone involved and to have it likened to the disastrous performance versus Leiston a number of years ago hurts even more, as I am not used to my sides capitulating easily.

“Some of our performances, as a team and as individuals, have fallen below expected and required standards. Neither Danny nor I are happy for that to continue.

“We have been given an increased budget by the Lewes board this season and we are grateful for that support. We feel we have brought in quality players that would allow us to progress towards a play-off place but, for whatever reason that progress seems to have stalled at the moment.

“It is so important that the fans continue to stay with us. We all know they deserve better than we have given so hopefully by all of us moving forward together we will achieve our targets and our ambitions.”

Lewes visit third-placed Hendon with Elliott Romain serving a one-game ban while James Stinson, Phil Appiah and Sam Cole are injury doubts.

Skipper Jack Walder and Henry Muggeridge have both suffered setbacks after making comebacks from fractured ankles and could face another spell on the sidelines. Alex Malins remains injured, George Branford has joined Bognor and Gary Elphick sees a specialist today about the cast on his fractured wrist.
