Steven King admits there is a massive incentive for his Whitehawk side to topple the leaders today.

The Hawks host Vanarama Conference south frontrunners Boreham Wood in a mouth-watering clash at the Enclosed Ground.

Victory could lift King’s side to within two points of the leaders but defeat would see Hawks slip eight points behind.

Whitehawk have a good record against the leading sides in the division this year including a 2-1 win three weeks ago at home to second-placed Bromley who had not previously lost on their travels in the league.

King insists Hawks should go into the game full of confidence.

He said: “We could move within two points of Boreham Wood and that is a massive incentive for us.

“If you based a form guide on results of sides in the top ten playing each other, we would be top.

“We have proved we can match anybody in this league. It against the teams in the lower echelons of this league that we have come unstuck.”

Sergio Torres returns from a three-match ban but fellow midfielder John-Paul Kissock serves the final match of his four-game suspension.

Defender Osei Sankofa hopes to return from a slight hamstring injury which forced him to miss the midweek victory at home to Bath City and David Ijaha expects to play despite being ill since Tuesday’s win.

Goalkeeper Craig Ross is back in goal after recovering quicker than expected from a hip flexor injury suffered at Concord Rangers a fortnight ago.

Seb Brown played in the defeat at Chelmsford last Saturday after signing on loan from Bromley but Ross returned against Bath.

King said: “Craig is my No.1 and has served us well since joining us.”
