Burgess Hill boss Ian Chapman has praised an all round squad effort after his side clinched the Ryman south title.

Hillians secured the crown with four games to go by winning 2-0 at Carshalton today.

They have lost just once in the league and maintained their table-topping momentum despite losing star performer Greg Luer to Hull City midway through the campaign.

Chapman said: “It has been a fantastic effort and people forget we lost our best player in December.

“At the time I said that wouldn’t affect us but I knew he was a proper footballer and a big player to lose.

“But we have dealt with him leaving.

“Callum Saunders has come in and given us something different and all the players have really stepped up to the mark. They all deserve massive plaudits.”

Luer congratulated Hillians by Twitter having earlier admitted he would have loved to have been at today's game.
