Milestone for Middleton

Barry Middleton leads GB's men's hockey team into Olympic action again this afternoon in the quest for back-to-back wins on his 100th appearance for his country.

They face South Africa in the second game of their group at the Riverbank Arena (4pm).

Captain Middleton, one of four East Grinstead players in the team, scored twice in the opening 4-1 victory against Argentina.

GB, ranked four in the world, won, drew and lost against the 12th ranked South Africans on a three-match tour in February.

Other Sussex interest centres tonight on Chichester's Lisa Gibson in the water polo against Australia, bornze medalists in Beijing four years ago.

This morning rowers Helen Glover and Heather Stanning left Australia in their wake as they stormed to victory in the coxless pairs at Eton Dorney to grab a first gold of the Games for Team GB.
