Chris Eubank Junior says he did not attend yesterday’s press conference with Billy Joe Saunders because he feared his opponent’s actions might put boxing in a bad light.
Eubank Jr, 25, challenges Saunders for his British, European and Commonwealth belts on November 29 at the ExCel London.
The pair were scheduled for a head-to-head press conference at the venue but Eubank failed to turn up alongside the Hatfield fighter.
The Brighton fighter said: “I respect the business of boxing so much which is why I didn’t come to the press conference because Billy Joe Saunders is unprofessional about things he might do and say.
“That brings a bad light on British boxing and we need to stay away from things like that. My job is to get in the ring, beat him and take the belts.”
- Eubank Jr was speaking to BT Sport’s Boxing Tonight programme, to see the full interview watch BT Sport 1 from 10.15pm tonight.
