Burgess Hill Ladies hope to hitch a ride on the feel-good factor at Leylands Park.

The Hillians were promoted to Ryman premier last year under Ian Chapman with Tony McDonald’s ladies team aim to improve on their fifth spot. in South East Counties Women’s League premier division.

They are one of three Sussex sides in the division along with Eastbourne Town and Hassocks and keen to prove they are the third best side in the county after Albion and Lewes.

McDonald said: “The good thing about us is that everything is on a par with the men’s team. We play on the main pitch and have access to all the facilities, which isn’t the case at some clubs.

“Chappers takes a great interest and helps out with the coaching some times so it is a great link-up. We have everything we could ask for so we have to make sure we are doing the business on the pitch now. We’ve set ourselves the target of top three and I think we have the squad to achieve that.”

Burgess Hill have will continue their preparations for the league campaign - which does not start until next month - with a friendly at Eastbourne on Sunday. (2pm)
