East Grinstead could make former Great Britain international Danny Hall their first summer signing.

The experienced forward is being lined up for a switch to Saint Hill following Guildford's relegation from the premier division.

Hall, 32, won almost 100 GB caps and made a century of England appearances.

He is the best friend of East Grinstead player-coach Mark Pearn.

Grinstead have not yet confirmed the signing but manager Matt Jones admitted it would be great to have Hall on board.

Jones said: "If East Grinstead signed a player of Danny Hall's proven calibre he would make a very good addition to an already strong line-up.

"With so many current East Grinstead players involved in the international set-up next season we would need players of Danny's quality to bolster our squad.

"But as yet I cannot confirm that we have concluded the transfer of Danny Hall."

Grinstead, one of the most progressive clubs in the country at the moment, finished fourth in the premier division of the National League last season and are looking to improve on that next season when outdoor European hockey is their goal.

England joint-captain Glenn Kirkham and fellow international are already on the playing roster along with former England and Great Britain player Pearn and a number of under-21 internationals.

Jackson, meanwhile, finished top scorer and won a gold medal while playing for Wessex Leopards in the inaugural GB Super League at Manchester.

Grinstead team-mate Jack Marfleet was also in the triumphant Wessex team while James Southgate and Kirkham played for Saxons Tigers, who finished second.

Jones managed the Saxons Tigers women's side which won silver while Grinstead keeper George Harris had an outstanding tournament for Celtic Panthers.

Jones said: "The tournament was an incredibly successful addition to the hockey calendar and looks set to continue.

"It was a good opportunity to showcase most of the UK's leading talent and gave coaches and managers an opportunity to identify new talent."
