Renowned trainers Ronnie Davies and Adam Booth are convinced Chris Eubank Junior is a ‘unique’ talent.

The 26-year-old Brighton fighter meets Gary ‘Spike’ O’Sullivan tonight at the 02 in a world title fight eliminator with a crack at WBA middleweight champion Daniel Jacobs on the horizon for the victor.

It is the first time Booth has worked as co-trainer along with Davies, who guided Chris Eubank Senior to world honours at two weights.

And Booth, who also trains WBO middleweight champion Andy Lee and worked with former WBA World Heavyweight champion David Haye and George Groves, reckons O’Sullivan does not know what he has let himself in for.

Booth, who is nicknamed the Dark Lord for his outspoken nature, said: “Chris has his own unique skills set, his own unique way of fighting and he also has the ability to impose himself on another man.

“That fighting energy is unique.”

Their association goes back some time as Eubank Jr used to travel to Booth’s gym for sparring.

And Booth believes what makes Eubank Jr stand out is what is in his head as much as his physical attributes.

Booth said:“He is a very natural athlete but more importantly he has got a phenomenal will to fight.

“Being an athlete is fine but you get triple-jumpers who are good athletes but punch them on the chin and they are not quite the same person.

“His emotional, mental and physical make-up is ideal for someone to be a fighter.”

Booth added: “His mental strength is based on his will and his desire.

“He is exactly where he wants to be.

“When he is in there with 10oz gloves on and in front of a big crowd, with the spotlights on, he is exactly where he wants to be.

“He is happy as you or I would be sat in front of our TV at Christmas time eating chocolate.

“That’s how happy he is to be trading blows with people and in those environments.

“If you were sitting at home watching a film, with no work for a couple of weeks and just had your big dinner, how would you be feeling?

“However, you can sum up that feeling of satisfaction, that is exactly how he is under the spotlights trading blows.”

That makes Booth’s job a whole lot easier too in Team Eubank.

He said: “There are fighters who are good trainers, and there are fighters who need coaxing – and he doesn’t.

“I enjoy it because I get along really well with Ronnie.

“I like English (Chris senior) and I am learning to understand English and he is learning to understand me.

“What I am doing is not insignificant, it’s big time boxing.

“So as a coach, what you want to do is work with a fighter who can firstly fight, secondly who wants to fight and finally who has got the desire to train as hard as he needs to train. And he ticks all the boxes.”

Davies is also enjoying the partnership with Booth.

The man Eubank Jr calls the overseer said: “We talk a lot and I always have my input. To me it’s no different.”

And Davies is predicting Eubank Jr to show what makes him special and end O’Sullivan’s challenge inside the distance.

Davies said: “I think Chris will stop him.

“He is looking absolutely ruthless in the gym but he is ruthless anyway.

“When people talk about the difference between him and his father, well his father was a gentleman. Junior is not.

“Junior is vicious and he is nasty and that’s just his make-up.”

Davies added: “What ever is put in front of Junior, he rises to it.”

Much has been made of Cork man O’Sullivan’s power, with his last five fights all coming by knockout.

But Booth believes the ferociousness of Eubank Jr will be the key.

He said: “One punch on the chin from Spike O’Sullivan will not be enough to tame what is inside Chris Eubank Junior.

“Spike doesn’t understand that yet. Eubank is not just quick, it’s how quickly the next shot will follow.

“It’s not about single hand speed, it’s about how quickly the second, third and fourth will follow and they will follow inevitably.

“But Spike is a tough guy, experienced and been around with only one defeat against a tricky southpaw so you can wipe that off the slate. What a fight it will be.”

Eubank Jr has not studied O’Sullivan’s only defeat to Billy Joe Saunders, the only fighter to put a blot on his own record.

Eubank Jr said: “I watched that fight when it happened a few years ago but I haven’t seen it since.

“But he just hasn’t got what it takes to beat me.”

Eubank Jr added: “He’s dug himself a very deep hole and he’s not going to be able to get out of it.

He’s one dimensional and he’s not got enough in his armour to beat me.”
