Goal ace Terry Dodd has revealed he offered to buy a fan a beer – after swigging from his pint during a game.
The Horsham striker has gone viral today thanks to video of him missing a chance and then enjoying a gulp of beer from a supporter behind the goal.
Dodd went on to score a hat-trick as Hornets beat Hailsham 11-1 to clinch the Southern Combination title.
He told The Argus: “I didn’t know the fan but he was holding a beer out so I just took it. It was totally random.
“I don’t think he liked me taking a drink but I told him I’d buy him a beer in the bar.”
Dodd has scored a club record 32 goals this season but can see the funny side of a miss making him famous.
He said: “I can’t believe how mad it has gone. Normally you get headlines for scoring goals, not missing one.
“It has a been a good season and to go straight back up after relegation is an achievement. Horsham should be in the Ryman League.”
