Eastbourne Borough boss Garry Wilson has told his players not to waste the opportunity to make club history today.

Borough have made a habit of rewriting the record books since Wilson and assistant manager Nick Greenwood took over the reins at Priory Lane in 1999.

In the space of eight success-packed years the pair have guided Borough from the Sussex County League to Conference south via three promotions and steered them to the verge of non-league's top flight when they lost in a play-off final at Stoke's Britannia Stadium.

Taking the once-mighty Oxford United to a replay in their first ever appearance in the first round of the FA Cup and masterminding a record unbeaten run of 19 matches this season and you might assume the clash with Weymouth was not such a big deal.

But Wilson admits nothing he has achieved so far could match beating the Conference premier outfit to book Borough's place in the second round for the first time ever.

Wilson said: "Reaching the second round would be a major achievement for a club like us. Not many clubs at our level progress that far but we have an excellent chance of doing it.

"This season we've been challenging the players to break new ground while we have been on this unbeaten run but being in the hat on Sunday would be on a different level.

"Getting to the play-off final and playing Oxford in front of the TV cameras were both memorable achievements but I think reaching the second round would top the lot.

"Some people might have been disappointed when we didn't get drawn against a big team like Leeds of Nottingham Forest but it has given us a fantastic opportunity to make history.

"We have been given a home tie against non-league opposition and I will be telling the players that chances like this don't come around very often and they must do everything to take it."

Borough have every right to go into the game full of confidence following their amazing form this season.

They sit proudly on top of Conference south and along with Arsenal are the only team in the country to boast an unbeaten record in all competitions.

Wilson is confident they can maintain that impressive record but insists there is no pressure on his side.

He added: "It is a completely different situation to when we played Oxford two years ago because people are actually talking about us being favourites this time.

"The bookies certainly think we have got a chance but we've got to remember they are a full-time club who play in a division above us so it is going to be a tough game.

"We have nothing to fear though. If we lose then it is no big embarrassment and that takes the pressure off us a little bit and we can just go out and play."
