Dave De Prez's last-minute goal salvaged a vital point for East Grinstead in their quest for European qualification.

A 3-3 draw at home to lowly Hampstead and Westminster was disappointing for Grinstead, who have now slipped to third in the National League premier division.

However, other results went in their favour and the point gained has increased the gap on the teams outside European places to four points.

Manager Matt Jones said: "We were lucky in terms of the other results, especially Loughborough losing. To come out of it with a point was ultimately fortunate but we can't get away from the fact that we didn't perform as well as we can do for long periods."

This was East Grinstead's first league game since December due to the winter break for the indoor campaign and they looked rusty as they fell 2-0 behind to a buoyant Hampstead and Westminster side.

Grinstead could not get their passing game going in the first half but De Prez's first goal just before half-time gave them hope and Ben Payne drew them level in an improved second-half showing.

However, they switched off a minute from time to allow the visitors to regain the lead from a short corner, only for De Prez's second to rescue a point.

Jones added: "It is two points dropped but the gap between third and fourth has grown.

"Good things always come out of bad. We are still a good side and we have learned more things that we will put right."

In the Women's National South Division, Fran Crossley opener was not enough for Horsham as they lost 3-1 at home to Bournemouth.
