Hastings United picked up a valuable point from a 2-2 draw away to second in the table Staines in Ryman premier.

United were reduced to ten men after 26 minutes when Rhys Whyborne was sent off after bringing down Richard Butler.

The visitors had taken the lead in the 15th minute when Lee Carey fired home after Ade Olorundo had created the opening.

Despite being reduced to ten men Hastings increased their lead when Olorundo made the most of slack defending.

Staines pulled a goal back within a minute through Mark Nwokeji and drew level on 37 minutes when Adrian Toppin latched on to a long ball through the heart of the Hastings defence.

A depleted Horsham lost 2-0 at home to AFC Wimbledon at the Atspeed Stadium in front of a crowd of 1,135.

Missing six regulars, the Hornets went behind in the 23rd minute when Tony Finn crossed for former Albion striker Daniel Webb to head home from six yards.

Horsham's Lewis Taylor went close four minutes into the second period before the visitors added a second when substitute Robin Shroot was on hand to force the ball home from close range after good work by Finn.

There were two hat-tricks as Burgess Hill drew 4-4 with Leatherhead at Leylands Park in division one south.

No prizes for guessing skipper Steve Harper did the trick for Hillians and no real surprise that Dave Stevens was the Tanners' treble man.

Both defences looked highly vulnerable and for the hosts that was something of a surprise.

Harper gave Hillians a 19th minute lead but Stevens struck twice in six minutes late in the half to give the visitors the advantage.

Harper set up makeshift strike partner Nick Fogden for the 59th minute equaliser but goals by Billy Marshall and Stevens put the visitors in the driving seat before Harper struck on 75 and 80 minutes to complete a rousing comeback.
