Adam Davies watched his Glynde side make it two wins from two, then declared: "We're in it to win it."

Glynde are the early leaders of the new Sussex League division three east following a crushing defeat of another former East Sussex League side, Chiddingly.

They head the table by four points from another old rival, Seaford, who they face this weekend.

Davies, who has taken over as skipper this season, said: "I could not have asked for a better start. Scoring 260 and 290 in our first two games, both batting first, is pretty special.

"There is a feeling among the boys this year. We have been waiting to come into the County League for a long time.

"The team is a dream to captain. They are really up for it and we are in it to win it.

"We know Seaford will be strong, and Hellingly and Chiddingly too, but we are trying to win the league because we want to progress."

Dominic Shepheard led the way with 146 not out, including 21 fours and five sixes, as Glynde set 290-4. Callum Smith added 66 and Darren Howard 46 to follow his opening day century.
