Hastings United had to settle for a point at fifth-placed Carshalton Athletic when they drew 2-2 in the Ryman premier despite leading at the break.
Danny Spice returned to the Hastings back line after completing a two-match ban with Luke Newman dropped to the substitutes’ bench.
Carshalton took the lead with less than two minutes on the clock when Barry Stevens found room in the penalty area to sweep the ball past Greg Nessling from close range.
United were on terms just eight minutes later when Antonio Gonnella headed home from Zac Attwood’s cross.
The visitors gained the upper hand and deservedly took the lead when Scott Ramsay headed past Phil Wilson in the home goal.
Attwood saw another good effort just clear the far post as Hastings went in at the break ahead.
The second half saw Athletic gain the upper hand and they levelled on 56 minutes when a long through ball beat the Hastings offside trap for Richard Jolly to fire past Nessling.
