Horsham YMCA moved to within two points of top spot in County League division one after leaders Eastbourne United failed to win for a third consecutive match.

Tom Manton struck the only goal with an 83rd-minute penalty as YM won 1-0 away to Lingfield.

At the same time Eastbourne United, who had lost their last two games, had to settle for a goalless draw away to Hassocks.

Those results mean YM are now two points behind United with a game in hand.

Arundel also closed the gap, moving to within three points of the leaders after a thumping 4-0 win at home to Whitehawk.

Howard Neighbour led the way with a brace while Gary Norgate and Scott Tipper were also on target.

Wick’s outside title hopes all but ended with a crushing 5-1 defeat away to Chichester for whom Jamie Ford and Ben Vassallo hit two apiece. Wick remain second, just a point behind Eastbourne United, but only have one game remaining.
