Simon Colbran is confident Worthing will soon get off the mark.

The Rebels have lost their opening two games, including a 1-0 defeat to Walton Casuals on Tuesday.

New boss Colbran said: “There was a massive improvement on Tuesday from Saturday and I thought we did enough to deserve the win but things aren’t happening for us at the moment.

“People are getting frustrated but it takes time.”

Glen Woodburn, who suffered whiplash in a car accident on Tuesday, should return for tomorrow’s game with Sittingbourne along with fellow defender Mark Zydonik but Wayne Clarke (groin) and Charlie Farmer (holiday) are missing.

Eastbourne Town manager Ady Colwell has demanded more quality from his side.

Town went down 2-1 at home to Folkstone Invicta in midweek after a goalless draw at Walton Casuals on the opening day.

Colwell said: “I couldn’t fault our commitment and desire but at times we lacked quality on the ball so I will be looking for us to step it up.”

Ashley Jarvis remains sidelined with ankle ligament damage while Gary Brockwell and Mark Goodwin are unavailable.

Goalkeeper Russ Tanner is also out so Sheldon Levett is recalled from Seaford Town.

Burgess Hill striker Danny Curd has been tipped to be a success in the Ryman League.

Curd opened his account for the Hillians in the last-ditch 3-2 defeat to Chatham on Tuesday following his summer move from Mile Oak.

The defeat left Hillians pointless from their first two games but boss Gary Croydon is confident they can turn things around, starting at Chipstead tomorrow.

Croydon said: “It was a bitter pill to swallow on Tuesday as they won it with the last kick of the game but I was pleased for Danny to get his first goal.

“He looks good alongside Steve Harper and those two can get us the goals to climb the table but there is no hiding from the fact we have lost both games so far. We are creating chances but we need to sort out our defending.”

Gavin Geddes returns from suspension tomorrow meaning Croydon has a full squad to choose from.

Manager Chris White has not been surprised by Horsham YMCA’s impressive start to the season following promotion from the County League.

YM were tipped to struggle but have taken four points from their opening two games after coming from behind to beat Met Police in midweek.

White said: “The Ryman League is faster and more physical than the County League but I was always confident we had the players to do well.

“It is only early days but to beat Met Police, who are hotly fancied, shows we have nothing to be frightened of at this level.”

Tuesday’s victory came at a price, though, with defender Tony Timms breaking an arm and expected to be out for at least eight weeks.

Sam Jeremiah, Dan White, Neil Watts and James Rhodes are sidelined through injury while Steve Sargent is unavailable for tomorrow’s clash with Chatham but Mark Pulling returns from suspension.
