FIT-AGAIN Sherrad Prezzie-Blue admits it is a bit like starting afresh as Worthing Thunder get over their injury woes.

The American point guard and sidekick Reggie Bratton combined for 50 points as Thunder enjoyed a much-needed 92-69 home win over London Capital on Saturday.

Both had been out for more than a month but Bratton, back from a foot problem, piled up 28 points on his home comeback and Prezzie-Blue (broken wrist) added 22.

Thunder came crashing back to earth last night with a 97-73 reverse at Cheshire Jets in which Bratton scored 16 points. They now have four days in which to work with a full squad, minus long-term absentee Janis Ivanovskis, ahead of Friday’s trip to Essex Pirares.

Bratton and Prezzie-Blue only played in the first four league games of the season before injury struck but Thunder will be glad of extra offensive options.

Prezzie-Blue said: “I feel brand new. I had a few weeks away but I’ve been involved in practices so I didn’t lose anything in terms of the plays we run.

“It feels like starting over. I was so anxious to play.”

Worthing enjoyed runs of 14-2 in the second quarter and 16-2 in the third to lead Capital by 24 points.

It was never a classic but Thunder put together enough good defensive sequences to ensure they were always in command.

Bratton’s great ball-handling offered them extra attacking options while Prezzie-Blue went four-for-seven from three-point range and was perfect from closer in.

Ville Makalainen added 21 points but Kadiri Richard had to wait until an alley-oop dunk two seconds from the end for his only field goal.

Richard also had nine rebounds, four blocks and three steals for Thunder.

Play was held up for 45 minutes after Capital forward Ibrahim Gariba fell awkwardly on his neck. An ambulance was called but it later transpired he had suffered nothing more serious than a neck strain.

Thunder were 11 points down at half-time at Chester having led 15-5. Chez Marks had 26 points for Jets, who closed the first half on a 12-0 run. Makalainen scored 14 for the visitors.

Standings (won-lost): Sheffield 11-3, Milton Keynes 9-3, Newcastle 8-3, Cheshire 8-3, Guildford 6-4, Leicester 6-5, Everton 5-5, Glasgow 4-4, Worthing 4-8, Worcester 3-7, Essex 2-6, London 2-9, Plymouth 1-8.
