Crawley secured only their second win in ten games with a richly-deserved 2-0 win over Salisbury in the Blue Square premier at the Broadfield Stadium.

The crowd of 603 was Crawley's second-lowest at this level and they suffered another injury blow when Chris Giles, who was playing as an emergency striker, limped off with a recurrence of hamstring trouble after 20 minutes.

A disappointing first half exploded into life in stoppage time when Salisbury defender James Turley was shown a straighr red for an x-rated challenge on skipper Adam Quinn.

Reds took advantage within five minutes of the re-start when Ben Smith scored his third goal in four games with a close-range finish after Charles Ademeno's shot had been blocked on the line by Paul Cox.

Ademeno squandered three great chances to add a second before Lewis Killeen made the game safe three minutes from time when he found the top corner with his left foot following good work by man of the match Thomas Pinault and Ademeno.

The only other disappointment for Reds was a second-half booking for Quinn which means he will miss next Tuesday's home game against leaders Oxford.

Assistant manager Paul Raynor said: "It was a tremendous three points and well deserved. In the second half we moved the ball around like we can and created some good chances.

"We're delighted with the manner of the performance and the discipline the guys showed in extreme circumstances because some of the challenges which were flying around all evening were appalling."
