Brighton Blues have been told to enjoy their big day at Twickenham today.

And that means going up to lift the Senior Vase after their final against unbeaten Dunlop of Coventry Blues beat Liskeard-Looe in the Junior Vase final last year but have stepped up a level for today’s showdown.

They will again have large backing from Sussex as they kick-off at 5pm in the last of four finals at Twickenham on a busy day.

Blues player/coach Neil McGovern said: “As players you want to enjoy the occasion but I think the biggest thing you can get out it is winning.

“There is no better feeling than walking up the steps at Twickenham and picking up the cup, then doing the champagne shot.

“It just adds a bit of gloss on the day.

“Obviously whatever happens it will be a brilliant way to end the season.

“We definitely want to try and win the game and I think having already had the big day out last season there will be a little bit more focus on winning.”

Blues’ XV includes just six men who started last season’s final and two of those have changed position since then.

McGovern added: “We are still playing the same way.

“That side has evolved over time. There’s a number of new players but it still feels the same.”
