Chairman Dave Jenkins is still holding out hope Eastbourne Town will get a reprieve from relegation despite not appearing in the new Ryman League listings for the coming season.

Danny Bloor’s side, who finished bottom of Ryman division one south, do not appear in the provisional allocations released by the Football Association.

County League champions Whitehawk and Kent counterparts Faversham Town make the step up but Town chairman Jenkins is clinging on to the hope that the FA say some issues remain outstanding and there could yet be changes throughout the pyramid.

The teams who finished 21st in the division one sections, Leyton and Walton Casuals, escape relegation because clubs at higher levels have folded or chosen to drop down.

Jenkins is hoping that Town may also benefit from outstanding issues elsewhere. He said: “It is a provisional list and we’re still hopeful there could still be changes.

“We’re hoping to get clarification by the end of the week as to our future.

“As we have said before, we’re anxious to stay in Ryman football and we are solvent off the field and wish to play at the highest level.”

Ryman president Alan Turvey said: “It would be wrong to say there was no possibility of the list being changed.

“It’s as good as it gets at the moment.”

Bognor have dropped into division one south for the coming season but Margate, who finished 19th in the premier, are reprieved.
