Three Bridges boss Paul Faili saw his side win 6-1 to keep their title hopes alive but admitted it is Crawley Down’s to lose.

Down remain two points clear with four games in hand after Tom Burton scored a goal in each half to secure a 2-0 home win over Crowborough.

Bridges lost to Crows last week and Faili admitted: “Crawley Down are relentless. They are beating sides that we should be beating which is the difference.

“Darren Guirey (manager) has done an amazing job and you have to give him and his players credit for that. We’ll keep going but they are in a very strong position now.”

Bridges thrashed bottom club Eastbourne United at The Oval thanks to goals from Tom Lyons (two), Elliott Romain (two), Ashley Dugdale and Nigel Brake although Faili was full of praise for his opponets.

“Their players are a credit to their club and the league,” he said.

“They never stopped working and trying to play and they didn’t resort to kicking us off the park. We just had a bit more experience than them.”

Bridges at least look good for a top-two finish after third-placed Pagham lost 4-1 at Ringmer.

Danny Davis, Kieran Patel, Joe Dryer and Marc Whiteman scored while boss Bob Munnery was impressed with French midfielder Rene Milan who came on in the second half after dual-registering with Whitehawk.

Munnery said: “He’s played at a decent level over there and is a good prospect for us and Whitehawk. The pitch was decent and that allowed us to play, it was an excellent performance.”

Peacehaven remain fourth after they beat Selsey 2-0. Ashley Rees opened the scoring and Rob O’Toole netted from the rebound after his second-half penalty had been saved.

Co-manager Terry Hall said: “It was a good solid performance.”

Hassocks stayed fifth despite a goalless draw at struggling St Francis in a game which failed to ignite.

Hassocks’ boss Micky Jewell admitted: “We didn’t do enough to win a poor game.”

East Grinstead moved up to seventh after Rikki Cable’s double and Liam Baitup’s 29th goal of the season earned them a 3-1 win at Chichester.

“It’s a hard place to get a result so we are really pleased,” said manager Tony Beckingham.

At the bottom, Sam Schaaf rescued a point for Hailsham with a last-minute equaliser in their 2-2 draw at Lingfield.

The hosts had led through Josh Coulson and Paul Scott with Tristan Jarvis also on target for Hailsham.

Lingfield boss Dixie Dean said: “It’s seven games unbeaten now which is good but when they equalise with 20 seconds to go it is hard to take, although a draw was probably a fair result.”

Wick had defender Danny Towers sent off for two first-half bookings as they went down 2-1 at Sidley to two Terry Payne goals including a penalty either side of Rob Wimble’s equaliser.

Wick assistant manager Dave Berkowitz said: “We dominated possession even with ten men but the second goal knocked the wind out of our sails.”

Shoreham picked up a useful point in a 2-2 draw at Redhill after Marcus Elliott and Matt Geard has put the home side in front. Charlie Walker and Kevin Keehan struck for the Mussels.
